The point that causes the most confusion when ordering moquette: the difference between square meters and running meters. Moquette sells by the running meter, and the roll is a fixed four meters wide. When you buy one meter, you take a piece one meter long and the full four meters wide. A 4×5 room, for example, does not need twenty meters as many assume. It needs five running meters only.
Rule one: is your room four meters wide or less? One piece
If one side of the room is four meters or less, the roll's width covers it completely and you need a single piece with no joins: your meters equal the length of the other side. A 3×7 hallway needs seven meters. And if both sides are four or less, you pay for the smaller side: a 3×4 bedroom needs three meters only, because the roll's width covers the four-meter direction.
Rule two: wider than four meters? One big piece plus strips
Majlis and halls wider than four meters are laid with one big piece at the roll's full width, and the rest is completed with strips cut from the same roll in the same fiber direction. With professional fitting the join is barely visible, and on thick twisted-fiber moquette it disappears completely. Strip math depends on your exact room size, so send us the length and width on WhatsApp and the meter count reaches you with a cutting plan within minutes.
Three points that protect you
- The offcuts left from cutting are yours: they make door mats and small runners, and they go home with you
- Patterned moquette needs an extra meter or two per room so the pattern matches at the joins; a room laid in one piece needs no extra
- Measurements always round up, so you never come up a hand short at a wall
A quick test for any quote
Divide your total floor area by four. The result is the minimum running meters that can cover the space, and any quote promising less than that number carries a counting error or incomplete coverage. A house with a hundred square meters of floor cannot be covered by fifteen running meters, however clever the cutting.
